Welcome to Harper Greer!
My husband, John, and I have been designing and making our line together in San Francisco since 1983. Originally inspired by John's mother, Lillian, who said "why don't you make some clothes for women like me". My background is in fashion and John's is in music.
Perfect marriage for a plus size clothing line wouldn't you say!
We've gone through a few re-inventions over the years. In the early years we sold our line to stores like Macys, Bloomingdales,
I Magnin, Nordstrom and lots of great specialty stores all over the country. We had a series of successful factory outlet sales and found that we really enjoyed working with the people who actually wore our clothes. So.....our next step was opening our own retail stores.
(We still have customers who shopped at those crazy outlet sales!). The past few years in retail have been challenging. We decided
to change our business model to primarily on-line shopping and are very happy with the change. We also have home shopping parties and shopping by appointment. John gets to spend more time on his music (he plays jazz piano and used to tinkle the ivories in one of our stores on his Steinway). He has a trio and also enjoys teaching. We have 16 year old son who is getting spoiled by having his parents around a lot more.
Hope you enjoy shopping with us on-line and feel free to call us anytime with questions or suggestions. We love our customers and
truly value your support and friendships over the years.
Cheers!

Customer Comments & Kudos
I have been shopping at Harper Greer for more than 12 years and love their clothes. Their fabrics are wonderful and unique, John is wonderful to work with and very helpful with suggestions. The service at HG is top-notch in every way! Since I live on the east coast and generally get to San Francisco only once a year, HG has made it so easy to order on line since they know what I've bought before, which size fits for each type of garment and they will even send fabric swatches.

I've been shopping at Harper Greer for over 10 years and love everything I've bought there. They are a locally-owned small business and the owners are super friendly and engaged with the customers. The quality of the materials and workmanship is fantastic. Great professional clothes and some casual stuff.

I no longer live in the Bay Area but from the opposite coast of the country.
I now I buy by web and phone quite regularly. I still do shop at other stores, like Macy's, and there I find things I can wear for a season before they stretch out, unravel or otherwise become raggedy looking. My Harper Greer clothes, on the other hand, last for years. Call me a loyal customer.

I am from Michigan. I found Harper Greer about 20 years ago when I was in San Francisco. I still wear a beautiful blouse I got on that trip. I love their clothes. They are beautiful and very well made. Back before everyone had computers if I needed something I would call the store, tell them what I needed and they would send me outfits to try. I would pick the best and send them back the rest . Now I can go on line and see the new arrivals and buy what I love. Harper Greer is my favorite store.

I've never lived in the Bay area but I've been a Harper Greer customer for a decade. Why? Gorgeous clothes (simple and elegant) + sumptuous fabrics + customer service that never fails to delight. Shopping at Harper Greer is an exceptional experience, and you leave with a smile on your face and classic clothing you'll wear for years.
