Yelp Reviews

This is my favorite dress shop on the planet.  It is also my favorite blouse, blazer, jacket and pants shop!  I have been shopping at Harper Greer for more than 15 years.  Timeless styles, contemporary fabrics, and the best quality clothing construction I have ever seen.  My mother was an expert seamstress and all of her "secrets" and "special touches" that made her pieces last are found in every item I buy at Harper Greer.  Of all the clothes in my closet (and, yes, I am a clothes-hound), my Harper Greer purchases are the best-made, long-lasting, and well-fitting. I always feel my best when I am wearing one of my HG items.  They perpetually have that "new and beautiful" feel to them.  Great shop.  Also, if you are into music, especially jazz, you could talk for hours with John.  Fabulous repertoire of music.

When I lived in southern California, I made a special point to visit Harper Greer "up north" because I knew that I'd find high quality career clothes. Their custom-tailored pants and "Lucy" blouses are still among the favorite pieces in my wardrobe.
What I hadn't expected was the amazing customer service and attention I received, not only on the day of my first purchase, but long beyond that.  Now that I'm on the east coast, I can still shop online and on the phone, and I speak to the same caring sales staff who go out of their way to extend stellar service. It makes all the difference!

I have been shopping at Harper Greer for more than 12 years and love their clothes. Their fabrics are wonderful and unique, John is wonderful to work with and very helpful with suggestions.  The service at HG is top-notch in every way!  Since I live on the east coast and generally get to San Francisco only once a year, HG has made it so easy to order on line since they know what I've bought before, which size fits for each type of garment and they will even send fabric swatches.  I also commend HG for carrying some more moderately priced casual items.  I also started shopping with them in the old south of market location but like the Sutter Street store and hope it brings them more traffic.
Keep up the great clothing opportunities for we plus-sized gals!

I've been shopping at Harper Greer for over 10 years and love everything I've bought there. They are a locally-owned small business and the owners are super friendly and engaged with the customers. The quality of the materials and workmanship is fantastic. Great professional clothes and some casual stuff. The prices can be a bit high, but you can't find anything else of this quality and fit in the bay area. And the sales are great. Go check it out!

Like other overweight women, I find it difficult to buy high quality clothes suitable for the professional workplace.  The Catherines/LaneBryant stores specialize in sportswear or polyester knock-offs of quality shirts and suits.  Harper Greer has long had a limited but lovely selection of silk tops that work with skirts and slacks for even the most difficult figures.  I desperately miss some of their earlier, spectacular Vietnamese silks, which featured such interesting patterns and tone-on-tone stitching.  But even the somewhat more restrained silks  - and indeed some of their well-cut polyesters - are still a staple of my wardrobe.  I no longer live in the Bay Area but from the opposite coast of the country I now I buy by web and phone quite regularly.  I still do shop at other stores, like Macy's, and there I find things I can wear for a season before they stretch out, unravel or otherwise become raggedy looking.  My Harper Greer clothes, on the other hand, last for years.  Call me a loyal customer!

Every trip I take from DC to SF I stop in HG - it is fabulous! I've missed airplanes to make my pilgrimage. Great colors - wonderful styles - excellent quality materials and the staff is attentive and so incredibly honest on what works and what doesn't work. It's a must see and a must have in your wardrobe.

I am - most of the time - a dash in, dash out - Macys, Marshalls, TJ Maxx - please don't make me shop- kind of girl...  But years ago I stumbled into Harper Greer waiting for some outlet store that wasn't going to have anything that fit me in it anyway to open up in the morning (and we're talking 20 years ago)...  And I've been their's ever since.  I've adjusted to having people bring me clothes in other sizes or other colors,  and bring me tea, and suggest things I might like, and remember my name, and remember that I'm from out of town and only show up a couple times a year...  And it's been a lovely adjustment.  I just haven't quite adjusted to the new location yet but mostly that's because I can call and they'll ship me things - so why work out the parking when you're spoiled and don't have to drive from Monterey to SF...  Thanks for all the help.

As far as I'm concerned, there are no better "real size"  women's clothes then Harper Greer.  Terry gets it!  You don't just use more material, you make different shapes for different body types.  If you are a career woman wearing size 12 and up, go to Harper Greer.  If you have an event same thing!  Quality, fashion and durability for the larger of us.   I miss listening to John play piano while I try on beautiful clothes.
